Cachify 2.4.0 released
We are excited to announce a fresh release of our Cachify plugin today.
The last update 2.3.2 is almost three years old, so it was probably about time to wipe off the dust and make all pending changes available finally. We are still alive!
Many thanks to all our new and returning contributors and all the users who did not turn their backs on us despite the long radio silence and constantly reported issues and requested new features.
The Highlights
- New Caching Backend: We modernized our caching options and added support for Redis (as well as KeyDB and Valkey), allowing you to store your data in another external memory-cache.
- Discontinued APC support: We decided to discontinue the support for APC (the original “Alternative PHP Cache”, APCu was never supported) which is obsolete since 2012 and most likely not available on modern web servers anyway.
- Enhanced Customization: There are also a couple of new filters and actions to hook into the Caching logic.
Under the Hood
Three years of development, even if sometimes slow, leave quite a few less obvious imprints as well.
- Updated setup instructions for advanced web server integration
- Tweaks to our flushing logic
- More refined default exclusions
- Minor bug fixes and UI enhancements
- Improved accessibility and internationalization
- Extensive internal cleanups and modernizations throughout the entire code base
Compatibility
This version requires at least:
- WordPress: 4.7
- PHP: 5.6
We’ve tested this version with WordPress up to 6.6 and PHP 8.3.
